lyrics

Well 2 years ago,
I was digging a hole
And inside I found a
Deeper hole

I arrived not as a whole
But in different sized boxes
With assembly instructions enclosed
Oh but they quickly got lost

And since then I’ve been suffering
From a disease I don’t I believe in
Something that used to be a sin

See coz of the rain I blame
This town for my slouch
Shoulders back son,

My eyes are strained and
My mouth’s gone without
OK coz my tongue’s gone numb

I’ve lost count of the cobblestones,
Cup’s of coffee
and broken headphones
I would if I could, but I can’t so I won’t

And everyone’s a DJ
And everyone takes photos
Well no one owns a car but we all play guitar
And my concrete shoes are the same size as yours

All of the roads here seem to a lead
To a dark wooden box,
But not the kind in which you’re buried
Who’s got a match?
My aspirations ain’t worth a damn
Because my sense of patience is now a fuse length
Turn it down or I’ll turn this goddamn car around

Don’t want to meet no one new
Coz I’ll just see them everyday
I’ve legs to stretch and a growing list
Of folks I owe drinks far away

How long will it be ‘fore I’m askin then begging then prayin
Then saying there ain’t no possible way for me babe
To not be back in your arms again someday

If they know which shelf to put me
If they end up putting me on a shelf
I won’t thank God
But I’ll thank everybody else
